About Us - Loft Specialists in Kent

Room3

Southeast Conversions has been established for over 20 years , a small, friendly family run business, with the director Steve Chaplin , a trained carpenter, his son, Lee and two other permanent members of staff, Paul & Stuart, we also employ an ex local authority building surveyor for our plans and structural calculations, an electrician, plumber, roofing contractor, and specialist staircase manufacturer who have all been with us since the company was formed.

Southeast Conversions Ltd are a private limited company, fully insured and very experienced in the Loft Conversion Industry. Whatever your Loft Conversion requirements may be, at Southeast Conversions, we can carry out a full design and feasability survey, arrange for plans to be prepared, obtain the relevant permissions and carry out the works through to completion, ready for decoration, and if required we can even decorate the conversion if required.

We will also work to your plans and liase with you architect if required. All work is carried out to current local authority regulations, including Part P electrical and Corgi Gas regulations..

There are many types of Loft Conversions, a simple Velux conversion, normally suited for a childs bedroom or study, unless the roof space is particularly large, a dormer conversion, incorporating a larger space with en suite potential, Hip to Gable Conversion, mostly for semi detached and end of terraced, and the conversion of truss rafter roofs, mostly newer style of property.

The main criteria for converting your loft is headroom, you would normally need a minimum of around 2400 metres between the ceiling board and the ridge, the highest point of the roof.

A major factor in loft conversions from October 2008 is the relaxation of certain planning restrictions, allowing 40 cubic metres of development for a terraced or semi detached property and 50 cubic metres for detached properties, with afew minor criteria's to adhere to which enables all properties to have the same development possibilities regardless of previous extensions, so if you have previously had a planning decision rejected for a loft conversion, it may now be possible to convert under permitted development.

Whatever your loft conversion requirements may be, whether it may be some FREE, no obligation advice or to arrange a FREE, no obligation feasability survey and quotation, Steve Chaplin can be contacted directly by using various methods on our contact page, and dont forget that when you call you will speak directly to Steve Chaplin, the owner of the business, not a salesperson.
